Friday, June 20

Today was the last day on the two and half day ferry ride from Sept Iles to Blanc Sablon. I, along with the nine other interns got to know each other, but only three of us actually will stay together in Blanc Sablon for our internships.

We arrived at the Blanc Sablon docks around 8 PM. A thick fog blanketed the town of 600 people. Snow patched the sides of the hills surrounding the town. Temperatures hovered around 45 degrees and there was a light mist.

Shortly after arriving, I met Trish, my supervisor for the next 4 weeks who lives here in town. All I know as of now is that I am participating in the Marine Species at Risk program that monitors whales (among them humpback, blue, fin, beluga, and orca whales) and other marine life.
